Day 2 Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner
Leave Freetown for Bunce Island and continue to Tasso Island before returning by ferry. The source focuses on historical reflection at Bunce and community and natural scenery at Tasso, but does not name specific buildings, activities or meals. The day should therefore remain centred on the island visits and water transport rather than adding unsupported tours or cultural demonstrations.

Activities

  • Freetown → Bunce Island Board a boat in Freetown for the journey out to Bunce Island in the Sierra Leone River. Cruise past mangroves and small fishing communities as you head toward this historic site.
  • Bunce Island Explore Bunce Island, once a major British slave-trading fort on the West African coast. Walk among the ruins and reflect on the powerful history and human stories connected to this place.
  • Bunce Island → Tasso Island Continue by boat from Bunce Island to nearby Tasso Island. Enjoy the peaceful river scenery and look out for birds and village life along the shoreline.
  • Tasso Island Spend time on tranquil Tasso Island, known for its relaxed atmosphere and natural beauty. Stroll along the beach, meet local residents, or simply unwind in the island setting.
  • Tasso Island → Freetown Return by boat from Tasso Island to Freetown in the late afternoon. Watch the sun begin to drop over the water as you head back toward the city and your hotel.

Transitioning to the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary introduces a different facet of the region’s environment, highlighting conservation efforts and the protection of endangered wildlife. The visit provides meaningful insight into local ecosystems and community-led stewardship before returning to the city’s pace.

DAY 4

Kabala Highlands and Cultural Traditions

Day 4 Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner
travelling north from Makeni leads into Kabala’s mountain landscapes, where the Wara Wara range provides an expansive backdrop for exploring the region’s natural character. The visit offers a calm immersion in highland scenery before shifting to Kabala’s longstanding cotton weaving practices, demonstrating the skill and heritage behind local textiles. As the day unfolds, encounters with community folklore and cultural dance introduce the stories, rhythms, and artistry that shape life in this part of Sierra Leone. Together, these experiences present a cohesive portrait of Kabala’s connection to both its environment and its traditions.

Activities

  • Makeni → Kabala Depart Makeni and drive north toward Kabala in the Wara Wara Mountains. Enjoy increasingly dramatic scenery as rocky hills and forested slopes rise around the road.

DAY 5

Makeni and Rogbonko Cultural Encounter

Day 5 Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner
Set out from the forested outskirts of Freetown on a scenic three-hour journey to the Rogbonko Village Retreat, stopping along the way in Makeni with your guide to explore this bustling provincial town and enjoy lunch before driving the final hour via Magburaka. Rogbonko Mathaka, meaning “The Place in the Forest”, offers a profound off-grid experience: with no electricity, running water or mobile signal, you will genuinely disconnect and immerse yourself in the community. Meet the villagers, share their traditional food and experience their daily routines, and let your guide lead you on forest walks and farm tours for an insight into rural life. A particular highlight is the traditional basket weaving, whose techniques strongly resemble the sweetgrass baskets woven by the Gullah/Geechee people, a skill believed to have been preserved by enslaved West Africans, particularly those from Sierra Leone. In the late afternoon, a transfer returns you to Makeni. This holdings bridges modern northern Sierra Leone with the enduring customs of its surrounding communities.

Activities

  • Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary → Makeni Depart the forested hills around Tacugama and drive inland toward Makeni. Watch the scenery shift from coastal rainforest to rolling countryside and small farming villages.
  • Makeni City Tour Explore Makeni on a short city tour, taking in its busy streets and local landmarks. Visit markets and commercial areas to see everyday life in this regional hub.
  • Makeni → Rogbonko Village Leave Makeni and drive along rural roads toward Rogbonko Village. Pass farms and roadside settlements as you travel deeper into the countryside.
  • Rogbonko Village Cultural Experience Spend time in Rogbonko Village, meeting the community and learning about local traditions. Take part in simple activities such as cooking demonstrations or craft making and hear stories from village elders.

Boma Village Heritage Experience

Day 6 Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner
Drive from Kabala to Boma Village and follow the Heritage Trail through the rural community. The activity is centred on walking through the village and learning about its heritage within the surrounding northern Sierra Leone landscape before the wider journey continues.

Activities

  • Kabala → Boma Village Leave Kabala and drive toward the remote village of Boma along rural tracks. Travel through farmland and forest as you approach the Moa River area.

The journey continues toward the Moa River, where the ferry crossing marks a shift from rural life to the deep rainforest environment of Tiwai Island. Here, a wildlife boat safari introduces the island’s protected ecosystems, revealing riverine scenery and diverse species along the forest edges. A guided rainforest walk further immerses travellers in a habitat known for its primates and birdlife, offering an unhurried exploration of one of the country’s most significant conservation areas.

  • Moa River Bank → Tiwai Island Board a boat at the Moa River bank for the short crossing to Tiwai Island. Glide along calm channels toward the forested island in one of Sierra Leone’s key wildlife areas.
  • Tiwai Island Join a boat safari around Tiwai Island to search for pygmy hippos, monkeys, and birdlife along the riverbanks. Enjoy the changing colours of the forest and sky as you travel.
  • Tiwai Island Explore Tiwai Island on guided rainforest walks, looking for primates and other wildlife in the trees. Learn about the island’s fragile ecosystem and the conservation work taking place here.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this Sierra Leone tour cover in 11 days?
You start and finish in Freetown and travel a wide loop through the country. Day 1 arrives by boat across the Sierra Leone River; Day 2 visits Bunce Island slave castle and Tasso Island; Day 3 hikes Sugar Loaf Mountain and visits Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary; Day 4 explores Makeni and Rogbonko village; Day 5 reaches the Wara Wara Mountains in Kabala with an evening cultural dance; Day 6 follows the Heritage Trail to Boma Village; Day 7 hikes to the mystical Kote Wulehun (Large Stone Village) and cruises to Tiwai Island for chimp tracking; Day 8 travels to Banana Island at Bafa Resort; Day 9 relaxes at River No. 2 beach; Day 10 does a full tour of Freetown including a cooking class with chef Susan Senesi; Day 11 departs.
What kind of group is this and how many people travel together?
It is a small-group tour with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 travellers. Departures run from November to April, departing on Saturdays, and are guaranteed with at least 4 confirmed bookings. A local English-speaking Sierra Leonean guide accompanies you throughout, and the small group size means you can properly hear the guide and interact with local communities.
Is Sierra Leone a safe destination for tourists?
Sierra Leone is a welcoming and peaceful country today, and tourism is growing steadily. The civil war that affected the country ended in 2002 and life has moved on considerably. As with any destination, you should read the latest official government travel advice before you go and follow your guide's advice on the ground. Your guide is local, experienced, and will navigate any situations calmly. The tour also avoids the rainy season (May to October), so you travel during the best weather window.
When do departures run and why are there no tours in the rainy season?
Group departures run from November to April. Sierra Leone has a pronounced rainy season from roughly May to October, and travelling in more remote parts of the country (jungle trails, unpaved roads, river crossings) becomes significantly harder during that period. The dry season window gives you the best roads, walkable trails, and wildlife-watching conditions.
What are the standout highlights I should not miss?
The slave castle at Bunce Island (est. around 1670, the largest British slave fort on the West African Rice Coast) is sobering and historically vital. The Sugar Loaf Mountain hike reaches 727 m and rewards you with sweeping views of Freetown. The Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary houses over 80 rescued chimps in a 100-acre rainforest reserve. Tiwai Island is one of West Africa's best wildlife spots with pygmy hippos, 13 monkey species, and 135 bird species. Boma Village with its female chief and the libation ceremony at Kote Wulehun are genuinely rare cultural experiences. The evening cooking class with Susan Senesi at Treat Food Concept rounds things off beautifully.
Can I book this as a private tour rather than joining a group departure?
Yes. Most Encounters Travel group itineraries can also be run as private departures, which lets you choose your own travel dates and even customise the accommodation or pace. Contact the sales team to discuss options and pricing based on your party size.
What is included in the tour price?
The price covers 10 nights' accommodation across a range of property types, all transport and transfers throughout the tour (including the sea-coach from Lungi Airport to Freetown), all entrance fees for visits in the itinerary, and the services of a local guide throughout. Importantly, almost every meal is included: 10 breakfasts, 9 lunches, and 10 dinners, starting with dinner on Day 1 and ending with breakfast on Day 11. Your Sierra Leone Entry Visa and the Airport Security Fee (Securipass) are also included.
What is not included in the price?
International flights are not included, though Encounters Travel can help suggest suitable options. You must arrange your own comprehensive travel insurance (compulsory). A Yellow Fever Certificate is mandatory for entry to Sierra Leone and must be obtained by you before travel. Tips for the guide and driver are not included. Drinks, snacks, and personal expenses such as laundry are also excluded. The departure Securipass (paid in cash at the airport on the way out) is not included either.
How much should I budget for spending money beyond the tour price?
With almost all meals covered, your daily out-of-pocket costs are relatively low. The tour notes suggest budgeting a minimum of around ten to fifteen US dollars per person per day for drinks, snacks, souvenirs, and personal items. If you plan to shop at markets or buy alcoholic drinks regularly, allow a little more. Tips for your guide and driver are extra: the tour notes suggest roughly five to seven US dollars per person per day as a guide figure, though tipping is always at your discretion.
Can I add extra nights in Freetown to my booking?
Yes. Optional extra nights in Freetown are available both before the tour starts and after it ends. These are booked at the same hotel as the main tour (subject to availability) and include the airport transfer for those extra days. Prices are per person based on two people sharing; a single supplement applies for solo travellers.
How physically demanding is this tour?
The most challenging day is the Sugar Loaf Mountain hike on Day 3, which rises to 727 m and takes roughly 3 to 4 hours. The terrain can be steep in sections, so sturdy hiking boots are strongly recommended. Day 7 involves a bush-trail walk to Nainiahun and then on to the Moa River. Beyond those two days, the pace is moderate. You will be on your feet exploring cities, markets, and villages most days, but you do not need to be an athlete. A reasonable level of general fitness is all that is required.
Are there activities suitable for people who prefer not to hike?
If the Sugar Loaf hike or the bush walk is not for you, speak to your guide. On most days the activities involve city tours, boat trips, village visits, and cultural experiences that are accessible to most fitness levels. The chimp viewing at Tacugama, the boat trip on Tiwai Island, the Boma Village heritage trail, and the cooking class at Treat Food Concept are all accessible without strenuous walking.
Is this tour suitable for children or older travellers?
The tour is designed for adults and young adults. There is no minimum age stated, but the remote accommodation, basic facilities at Boma Village and Tiwai Island, and the bush hiking days make it better suited to those who are comfortable in adventurous conditions. Older travellers who are in good health and enjoy active holidays do join and enjoy the tour, but anyone with mobility limitations should discuss the itinerary details with the sales team before booking.
What vaccinations do I need before visiting Sierra Leone?
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry and you must have it before you travel. It is also strongly recommended to be up to date on Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Polio, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, and Rabies. Anti-malarial medication is recommended throughout the trip. Always consult your GP or a travel health clinic well in advance for personalised advice based on your medical history.
Is travel insurance compulsory and what must it cover?
Travel insurance is compulsory on all Encounters Travel tours. Your policy must cover personal accident and liability, medical expenses and repatriation, and travel delay and abandonment. Cover against cancellation and lost or stolen baggage is also strongly recommended. You must provide your policy number and insurer details before departure, and you should carry a paper copy during the tour. If you arrive without valid insurance in place you will not be able to join the tour.
How does Encounters Travel protect my money if something goes wrong?
Encounters Travel is a UK-registered company and has partnered with Trust My Travel Ltd to provide financial protection. Every customer's payment is declared against Trust My Travel's insurance policy, so if Encounters Travel were to become insolvent you would be refunded for any unfulfilled services and, where applicable, repatriated to the UK. Full details are available on the Encounters Travel website and in the booking conditions.
What documents do I need to enter Sierra Leone?
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended travel dates. For most nationalities (including UK, US, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, and EU passport holders) Encounters Travel arranges the entry visa for you at no extra charge before arrival, using a copy of your passport that the sales team will request. The Securipass (airport security fee) on arrival is included in your tour price; the departure Securipass can be paid in US dollar cash at the airport or prepaid online.
Will I have a guide with me throughout the trip?
Yes. A fully trained, local English-speaking Sierra Leonean guide accompanies you for the entire 11 days. Encounters Travel uses only local guides, which means your guide brings genuine knowledge of the history, culture, languages, and local contacts that make experiences like the Boma Village heritage trail and the Kote Wulehun libation ceremony possible. Private departures can be arranged with guiding in other languages such as German, Italian, or Spanish on request.
What accommodation types can I expect throughout the tour?
The tour spans a wide range of accommodation styles by design. In Freetown you stay 3 nights at Hotel Barmoi, a comfortable hotel near Lumley Beach with an outdoor pool and ocean-view rooms. In Tacugama you sleep one night in eco-lodge chalets inside the chimpanzee sanctuary. In Makeni, the Royal Hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms. Kabala brings a night at the basic but welcoming Weindays Guesthouse. The Heritage Trail includes a night camping near Boma Village (all equipment provided). Tiwai Island offers basic rooms or tents with shared facilities. On Banana Island, Bafa Resort provides pre-erected teepee-style tents on the forest edge. Tokeh's Estuary Resort is a relaxed property where the river meets the sea.
How basic is the accommodation in the more remote parts of the tour?
At Boma Village the community guesthouse is genuinely basic: no showers are available and toilets are either shared community facilities or bush toilets. At Tiwai Island and Bafa Resort on Banana Island, toilet and shower facilities are communal. These nights are part of the adventure and most travellers find them memorable rather than difficult, but you should go in with realistic expectations. In Freetown and Makeni the facilities are far more comfortable.
Are rooms single or shared and is a single supplement available?

We offer Twin/Double rooms for friends and couples travelling together, as well as a room-share request option for solo travellers of the same sex to avoid extra charges. If you prefer the comfort and privacy of having your own room throughout the tour, a single room supplement is readily available to add to your booking.

Will I have air conditioning and Wi-Fi at the hotels?
In Freetown (Hotel Barmoi) and Makeni (Royal Hotel) you can expect air conditioning and Wi-Fi, though Wi-Fi signal can be unreliable. Once you move into more remote areas such as Kabala, Boma Village, Tiwai Island, and Banana Island, air conditioning and reliable Wi-Fi are generally not available. Power outages are also common outside Freetown, so bring a battery pack to keep your devices charged.
How many meals are included and what does Sierra Leonean food involve?

We include 10 breakfasts, 9 lunches, and 10 dinners on this 11-day itinerary (from dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on Day 11). Sierra Leonean cuisine is flavorful, wholesome, and delicious—featuring dishes like jollof rice, savory groundnut and cassava leaf stews, fried plantains, and fresh Atlantic seafood. Our tour even includes a hands-on local cooking class where you'll learn traditional recipes and cooking techniques firsthand!

Can the tour accommodate vegetarian or other dietary requirements?
Vegetarian options are available in Freetown and at most of the hotels and lodges on the tour. In more remote villages and guesthouses, the menu is limited to what is locally available, which is often fish, rice, and vegetables. Let the sales team and your guide know your dietary needs when you book so arrangements can be made in advance where possible.
Is the water safe to drink from the tap?
Tap water is not safe to drink in Sierra Leone. Stick to bottled water or a filtered water bottle. Encounters Travel has partnered with Water-to-Go, whose filtration bottles remove over 99.9% of contaminants from any non-saltwater source. Using a filter bottle rather than buying single-use plastic bottles is both healthier for you and better for the local environment. A 25% discount on Water-to-Go products is available with the code ENCOUNTERS25 at checkout.
Where can I expect to find my own food and drink?
Only one lunch is not included (Day 1 is arrival day, so only dinner is covered). On all other full tour days your meals are arranged. Drinks, snacks, and any food outside the set meals are your own expense. In Freetown there are restaurants and markets where you can find a wider range of food and drink. In Kabala and Boma Village the options are more limited, so make sure you pick up any snacks you want before leaving the bigger towns.
Is this a good tour for solo travellers?
Yes, the tour works well for solos. The small group of up to 12 means you quickly get to know your fellow travellers, and the local guide acts as a warm connector throughout the trip. Room-share arrangements with another same-sex solo traveller are offered at no extra cost where possible, and the single supplement is refunded if a share is matched before departure. The mix of cultural, historical, and wildlife experiences also makes for rich conversation around the dinner table.
What is the mix of travellers typically like on this tour?
Sierra Leone attracts curious, open-minded travellers who want something genuinely off the beaten track. You are unlikely to encounter mass tourism on this trip. Most people are adults travelling independently or in pairs, drawn by the combination of history (Bunce Island), wildlife (Tiwai Island), and authentic village culture (Rogbonko, Boma). The maximum group size of 12 keeps things intimate and flexible.
Are couples or small groups well accommodated?
Couples get a private double room throughout the tour. Small groups of friends or pairs travelling together are welcomed; the tour format with a shared guide and shared transport means you still experience everything together. If your group is large enough to fill the 12 spots, you can also enquire about a fully private departure.
How do I get from Lungi Airport to Freetown?
Lungi International Airport (FNA) is located across the Sierra Leone River from Freetown. Your Encounters Travel representative meets you at the airport and your transfer to the city is by sea-coach (a passenger ferry/speedboat service) across the river. This journey is included in the tour price. The sea-coach gives your first genuine taste of the country and the Freetown skyline. On departure, you return to the airport the same way.
What currency should I bring and how do I manage money in Sierra Leone?
The local currency is the Leone (SLL). You do not need to obtain Leones before travel; exchange facilities are available at the airport, banks, and some hotels. ATMs exist in major towns. Some shops in Freetown accept US dollars and some accept Visa/Mastercard, though fees may apply. Traveller's cheques are not recommended due to limited acceptance. Bring a mix of small-denomination notes or coins for tips and small purchases. For the departure Securipass (paid in cash on departure), you will need US dollars.
What should I pack for this tour?
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing for the heat, plus a couple of long-sleeved layers for cooler evenings and mosquito protection. Long trousers are advisable for village visits and religious sites. A solid pair of hiking boots is important for the Sugar Loaf Mountain hike and the bush walk on Day 7. Bring a daypack for daily excursions and a battery pack for charging devices during power outages. Other essentials: a sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent, a basic first aid kit, a small torch, and a light sleeping sheet for the camping nights. Remove excess packaging from new items before you leave home to reduce waste.
What power sockets does Sierra Leone use?
Sierra Leone uses Type D and Type G three-pin sockets at 230 volts. If you are arriving from the US or Canada with 110-volt appliances you will need both a plug adapter and a voltage converter. Bring a travel adapter in any case, as different socket types appear in different properties. Given frequent power outages, a portable battery pack is strongly recommended.
How many accommodation moves are there and is a wheeled suitcase practical?
There are 10 overnight locations on an 11-day tour, which means you move almost every day. A rucksack or soft holdall is genuinely easier to handle than a hard suitcase given the frequency of moves and the occasional boat transfer. A small daypack for daily items is also useful, as your main bag stays at the accommodation while you sightsee.
What do the tour notes say about responsible travel in Sierra Leone?
Encounters Travel asks all travellers to respect local customs and dress modestly when visiting villages and religious sites. Conserve electricity and water, do not litter, and consider collecting your plastic waste to take home given the limited waste disposal in rural areas. Using a reusable water filter bottle reduces single-use plastic significantly. Be patient with language differences and try a few words of Krio or a local greeting: it goes a long way. If you commit an illegal act you may be removed from the tour without refund.
What optional extras can I add to my Sierra Leone booking?
The main options are extra accommodation nights in Freetown before the tour starts (pre-tour) or after it ends (post-tour). Both include the relevant airport transfer and use the same hotel as the main tour (subject to availability). Prices are per person based on two sharing, with a single supplement if you need a solo room. A single room supplement for the entire tour duration is also available to book in advance.
Can I extend my trip by visiting other West African countries?
Encounters Travel does not list a specific multi-country extension for Sierra Leone on this tour page, but the sales team can help you put together a tailor-made addition if you want to explore neighbouring countries. Given the limited direct flights to Sierra Leone, many travellers combine the tour with time in Accra (Ghana) or Dakar (Senegal). Speak to the team about what is feasible.
Is a private departure or a customised itinerary available?
Yes. Most Encounters Travel group tours can be run privately, letting you travel on dates that suit you with just your own party. The route and pace can be adjusted, and accommodation upgrades are possible on private arrangements. A completely tailor-made itinerary built from scratch is also available through the specialist sales team. Private pricing is based on your group size and any changes you request.
How do I book and what are the payment terms?
Book through the Dates and Prices tab on the Encounters Travel website. You can pay a deposit or the full amount online, or hold a reservation while you decide. Full payment is due 8 weeks before departure. Payment methods include credit or debit card (a card processing fee applies), bank transfer, or a cheque or bank draft. Your booking confirmation email will set out all details.
What is the minimum group size for a departure to be guaranteed?
Group departures are guaranteed to run with a minimum of 4 confirmed travellers. If a departure you have booked does not reach 4 travellers, Encounters Travel will advise you and discuss alternatives, which may include transferring to another departure date or a private arrangement. Private tours can run without a minimum group size requirement.
What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
Cancellation terms are set out in the Encounters Travel booking conditions available on their website. The standard terms involve a sliding scale of charges depending on how far in advance you cancel, with fees increasing as the departure date approaches. It is strongly recommended to take out travel insurance that covers trip cancellation from the point of booking so you are protected if unexpected events force you to cancel.
Can I join the tour from a city other than Freetown?
The tour starts and finishes in Freetown (arriving into Lungi International Airport, FNA). Airport transfers are included on the first and last days of the tour itinerary. If you book additional nights before or after the tour through Encounters Travel, those transfers are also included. If you arrange your own extra accommodation independently, you will need to organise your own transfers on those days.
Are international flights included or can Encounters Travel help me find them?
Flights are not included in the tour price. Encounters Travel is happy to help you find suitable flights: contact them with your preferred travel dates and departure airport and they will provide a selection of airlines, schedules, and fares to consider. Flight-inclusive packages are occasionally advertised on the website with pricing confirmed at the time of booking.

We had such a fantastic vacation in Egypt! We couldn’t it have planned this ourselves - so many venues, all smoothly scheduled with all transfers arranged. There was always a guide to make sure things went well, and they did indeed make everything work. From the pyramids to Luxor and the new amazing Grand Egyptian Museum, we always had a knowledgeable local certified guide who added immensely to our understanding. The Nile cruise boat was excellent as well, comfortable and fun!
I had many questions prior to and after booking, and the company provided excellent communication and support. Highly recommend!!

My friend and I purchased the 'Egypt Express Tour' provided by Encounters Travel and I must say, it was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life! We were assigned an agent from the company by the name of 'Mariska Knoesen'. She was very professional, proficient, and answered all of my questions and concerns, via e-mail, in a timely fashion. Upon our arrival in Egypt, we were greeted by a friendly team from Encounters Travel, who were all fluent in English. They assisted us with getting Egyptian visas and made exiting the airport easy. In total, it ended up being 9 of us grouped together. Our main tour guide was a gentleman by the name of 'Ashrafbehairy', whom we all referred to as "Ash" for short. HE WAS AMAZING!! We could not have asked for a better tour guide for our trip. He was very humble, kind, and knowledgeable. He accompanied us from Cairo to Aswan and then to Luxor and back to Cairo, via train. We visited several attractions such as the Pyramids, Philae Temple, Edfu Temple, and the Valley of the Kings (just to name a few). While at each sight, Ash explained its history to us and was able to answer all questions. He assisted with translation (Arabic and English) when needed, got us snacks, provided water, and took me to the shop to get items I desperately needed (sunblock and aloe lol). He even gave everyone a souvenir keychain at the end of our trip. Most importantly, we all felt SAFE! There is so much more I could say about this trip, but I will end by saying that it was honestly a great experience! I highly recommend purchasing this tour from Encounters Travel.

Encounters Travel, you did it again! We had an amazing and very memorable trip to Bhutan. It was very well organized. The tour company did a wonderful job. Our journey through Bhutan was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the country's serene landscapes and deep-rooted culture wrapped us in a sense of peace and wonder. The hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery) was a breathtaking hike and an even more spiritual reward at the top. The view was surreal, and the monastery seemed to float on the cliffside. The trip leaves you with a calmer heart, a clearer mind, and memories that feel timeless!

Accommodation

The hotels and accommodations listed below are the ones we most often use on this tour. From time to time we may exchange these for similar properties at the same level.

Options

Our tours are designed to include all that you need to enjoy a really special time in the country you're visiting. However, we do also offer some extra options to complement the tour and add some additional sightseeing or activities, or some extra time at either end of the tour.

All accommodation based options (e.g. Single supplements, extra nights, upgrades) should be booked and paid for in advance so that we can make the appropriate arrangements. Most other options can be booked and paid for in advance or while you are on the tour, though we recommend booking in advance to ensure there are no issues with availability.

Most options are priced the same throughout the year, though some may have seasonal pricing or minimum number requirements - our sales team will advise the final pricing based on your travel date and number of passengers on your booking.
