Anna & Nancy - Guides and drivers were kind, helpful and knowledgeable.
The program was very good but accommodation in Petra was very bad, meals were very bad everywhere (except Wadi Rum), we were very poorly informed about the day activities, we had to ask constantly what time we are leaving, how much time we have for using the wash-room and so on.
This tour was very disorganized from the start. I do not think it’s beneficial to have multiple language tours on the same trip- it takes up too much time and ends up being confusing. The travel guide was impolite and his English grammar was difficult to understand. I felt like he ignored the English speakers because there were only 3 of us in the group of 20 and his communication …
The tour guide was really aggressive about tips and the only place we eat at were crap
There should be time right at the beginning for fellow travellers to get to know each other. Travellers should be allowed to do their own thing at stops. We were forced to listen to lengthy and overly detailed descriptions from our guide, for over an hour, and then given just ten or fifteen minutes to explore on our own. It was a listen to me, go where I go, look …
Very Disappointed!! First - most hotels were either at bad area or remote locations. Aggressive tour guides, we had a couple of nice lady tour guides, but others either lured us to a very expensive restaurant and ordered something not on the menu, or took us to a gift shop owned by families or friends...The last two days (7th and 8th day) were completely waste of time, hours of driving …
We recently returned from the Ancient Encounters itinerary (Egypt & Jordan). The Egypt portion of the itinerary felt rushed and exhausting with multiple 4 am wake up calls. The Nile river cruise (MS Royal Elite) was old and leaked diesel and exhaust fumes into our cabin making it unusable for two days. In both our cabin and dining area, black particles fell on the tables and plates due to the …
BUYER BEWARE Before you book anything with Encounters Travel, be SURE to read all of the fine print. This is especially important regarding their cancellation policy and the deposit you will forfeit. I didn't find that we'd completely lost our deposit until I contact the company to process a cancellation. I thought I could cancel for a full refund up until a certain point, but apparently I was mistaken. I …

Just got done with a 9 day trip to Morocco. Morocco is a beautiful country and the people were fantastic, but Encounters Travel made it hard to enjoy. I don't write long reviews, but potential clients really need to be warned. First of all, they require you to take out travel insurance. I thought travel insurance was a client's choice to cover your expenses in case of an issue? If …
This is a difficult review to write. The star rating asks for “overall rating” and the reality is that there are two parts to any tour; the sites and the experience. The tour definitely covered all the sites; Giza, Aswan, Luxor, Cairo. The tour guide was an “Egyptologist”; he went to college and studied mummification. But, the experience was very poor and the descriptions of what we we’re supposed to …
We did the Jordan & Egypt Express tour. The Jordan part was very nice, smooth organisation, no issues faced, all good and clear since day 1. This trip exceeded our expectations. In Egypt the situation was different. Poor choice of hotels. Some parts of the tour were rushed (pyramids visit). LONG BUS Driving. We were not fully aware of how long and difficult the drive from Cairo to Luxor would …
