Following recent expansions, Addo Elephant National Park has ascended to become the third-largest national reserve in South Africa. This vast conservation area now spans diverse ecosystems, ranging from the semi-arid Karoo and sprawling grasslands to thicket biomes and coastal dunes.
The park is renowned for its unique and dense vegetation, particularly the spekboom-rich succulent thicket, which provides an ideal habitat for a diverse array of wildlife. While it is most famous for sheltering one of the densest elephant populations on earth, the park is also home to the 'Big Seven,' including lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos, and even great white sharks and southern right whales within its marine protected zones.
We will embark on an afternoon game drive, exploring the park's winding tracks from the comfort of our minivan. This elevated vantage point offers excellent visibility as we traverse the scenic landscapes, guided by the movement of the herds in our search for the majestic animals that call this wilderness home.

Tsitsikamma National Park stands as one of South Africa’s most prestigious marine reserves, protecting a breathtaking stretch of coastline where ancient forests meet the Indian Ocean. The morning is dedicated to exploring this rugged terrain on foot, beginning with a trek along the Waterfall Trail. Both paths offer spectacular vantage points of the turquoise waters and deep river gorges.
Following the morning trek, the afternoon provides a shift in perspective with the optional Woodcutters Journey. This excursion ventures deep into the heart of the Tsitsikamma biome via specially designed vehicles. It offers a unique opportunity to encounter the giants of the forest, including the majestic Outeniqua Yellowwood, while local guides share insights into the delicate ecosystem, the history of the timber industry, and the diverse indigenous flora and fauna that call this wilderness home.
